How I got into concrete
I learned concrete doing upkeep for a property management company around Rogers, patching walks, resetting steps and fixing driveways that had settled or cracked. A lot of what I fixed went bad because somebody rushed the work under the slab. I started CJ Rogers Concrete Company in 2013 because concrete was the part of that job I liked best, and folks deserve it done right from the start.
We're best known for driveways, patios and steps where the subgrade, the packed ground the slab sits on, gets as much care as the finish. That layer is buried by the end of day one, so it's the easiest corner to cut and the first thing trimmed when money's tight. I'd rather spend the time there, because a pretty finish on a sinking slab doesn't help anybody.
Our own crew does the digging, packing, pouring and finishing, and I'm out on the job with them, so somebody who cares about what's under the slab is there when it goes in.
